Howdy Doody was not a law enforcement officer of any type. He was a cowboy- in the juvenile sense of the term, he was a child character, not an adult, unlike Steve Canyon ( Officer in USAF) or Mike Mercury ( clandestine operative of something like the CIA) He operated the Supercar.

I understand he was a child, ( in the story line) not a law enforcement officer. He had a western get-up- Stetson hat, for example, checked shirt- but no badge. He did not carry a gun, either, and as I understand it, toy firearms were never advertised on the Howdy Doody Time commercials. For some odd reason-maybe technical difficulties ( though they did have them in the comic book) Horses were conspicuous in their absence in Howdy Doody Land.-actually the town was called Doodyville.
The duration of Howdy Doody is 3600.0 seconds.
Since Howdy Doody didn't eat there was no worry about his doodie.
Howdy Doody was NOT in any sense a crime drama, so there was no need for detectives in the cast. You may be thinking of Fargo North, Decoder, which has some connection with Sesame Street. There was/is a comic detective Harlow Doyle ( a man) on the Adventures in Odyssey radio drama but he is no longer an active character.
