Emocore is actually a genre that has been dead since the early 90s. It was focused in the Washington D.C. area and never made it out. However, the transformation created post-emo bands that Sunny Day Real Estates and Jimmy Eat World (at least their earlier stuff). However, even this movement has passed away.

I recommend: Bands which are definite shoegaze: My Bloody Valentine, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Slowdive, and the Telescopes. Bands which are said to have inspired shoegaze: Galaxie 500, Dinosaur Jr., Spacemen 3, The Jesus and Mary Chain. Bands defined as Nu-gaze: (not full just) Fathom 5, the Warlocks.
There have been 3 waves of ska: 1. Jamaica in the 1960s 2. UK in the late 1970s and 1980s 3. USA in the 1990s Famous first wave bands include Toots & The Maytals, Prince Buster, The Skatalites and Desmond Dekker. Famous second wave bands include The Specials, Madness, The Beat and The Selecter. Famous third wave ska bands include Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, The Slackers and Less Than Jake. There are still hundreds of bands out there playing ska, it's not dead, they just aren't making as big an impact and the 3 waves did. Hope this helps :)
The top 3 means most popular, favorite, or highest ranked. For instance, the top 3 music, would be the ones that people enjoy the most and received the most number of hits.
There are a lot of bands with 3 words in their name. Three Doors Down and Three Days Grace are two examples. ;P
