Eurydice's name is the same in Greek and Roman mythology. Her husband Orpheus tried to bring her back from the Underworld after she died from a viper bite.
Perhaps the person one is referring to is Rainer Maria Rilke who was one of the greatest writers and poets of modern Germany. One of his most well known works is Die Sonette an Orpheus.
Most chamber orchestras have a conductor. Sometimes the concertmaster takes the position of "leader" and does the conducting from her/his seated position. Specifically, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra works without a conductor. They work out the tempi and other features during rehearsal.
Tennessee Williams is regarded as a pioneering playwright in American drama due to his innovative use of language, themes, and characters that explored complex psychological and social issues. His works, such as "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "The Glass Menagerie," challenged traditional theatrical conventions and brought a new level of realism and emotional depth to the stage. Williams' focus on marginalized and vulnerable characters helped to redefine the boundaries of American theater and influenced generations of playwrights.
Of course there is racism in Tennessee Williams' "Orpheus Descending. " It is set in a small town in the deep south, Mississippi of 1957. The Ku Klux Klan is part of the storyline, with the character of Jabe Torrance being a member. The "N" word is spouted liberally by the town Sheriff Talbott. Not only is racism a huge part of the inner world of this play, so is intolerance of non-conformity. This is all a product of time and place. Williams uses it to illustrate the ignorance and cruelty of many of his characters.
