There are many pros and cons of being a shoe designer. One of the best rewards is becoming famous and earning a large salary in addition to having your shoes worn by people all over the world. The design industry is very competitive and requires long hours of work and years of patience to become successful.

Pros

-It is an avenue for people the world over to creatively create and contribute to society. Creating something for one's friends or family that people like can instill a feeling a pride and reaffirm ones self worth.

Cons

-It can create inferiority complexes for people stemming from childhood. If the end all purpose is to clothe yourself, how much the clothing costs or who made it should not be relevant. Young children who's parents cannot afford to buy high fashions articles of clothing may feel embarrassed. They may grow older and frivolously spend any money they come into trying to look better than all others at all times. In America, this is a subtle issue of social stratification, especially among women.

Rich girl can have any thing she wants made out of whatever she wants.

Downside is that she can lack personality and rely of her possessions to define herself.

Poor girl goes shopping for school once a year at bargain stores. She will either grow up to be financially responsible, but still develop a shopping addiction [which most people don't know they have]. Or she will grow up and spend any money she comes into irresponsibly trying to impress both men[potential mates] and women[rivals], never having a substantial amount of money saved up to handle truly significant turns life throws at us.
