The adjective "fun" in this question is very subjective. What would be fun to one person would be pure drudgery for another. A friend of mine researches lobsters and has a great time snorkling and diving in the ocean. Another friend researches blueberries and loves spending time in Maine where 90% of the worlds wild blueberries are produced. The lobster researcher told me once that she feels sorry for the blueberry researcher because it must be so boring. Here are some subjects that might be fun even if you don't think you are interested

the role of animals in the human world/circus history/the Olympics/women in war/the history of UFOs/famous bank robbers/racing cars/a famous invention/global warming/polar bears/wolves/bats/coyodogs/pick a president/a famous event that happened in or near your town/your ancestors/what life was like for your great great grand parents
