i would say you need a reading age of something like 13-15 to fully enjoy it

Hmm, that sounds really late for a lot of kids. Personally I was very introverted and read a lot as a kid. I soloed The Hobbit somewhere between 7-9. I had the LotR read the following year. By13-15 I was reading all the contemporary adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy (Dune (Frank Herbert), The Shannara Series (Terry Brooks)).
For my kids I am reading them the hobbit at 7 and 5. My 5 year old had a lot of fun guessing the riddles (with some hints) when encountering Golum. When they read it on their own is a good question but I would put the answer lower than 15.
Even if a child is too young to understand some of the vocabulary they should still try. If a word is too hard to understand, refer said child to a dictionary(or Google.)
You learn to read by reading.
In discussing the calender system, Tolkien uses TA as an abbreviations for Third Age. SA refers to the Second Age.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy was first released in 2001 titled The Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring then followed by The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers released in 2002 and the last sequel was the The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King released in 2003.
JRR Tolkien never gave us the exact age of Arwen in Lord of the Rings. However, since she was indeed an elf, and elves are literally ageless, it is possible she could have been many years older than she looked.Actually, Arwen was 2780 years old at the end of the Lord of the Rings and 2910 years old when she died in the Fourth Age of Middle Earth.
Del Lord died on March 23, 1970 at the age of 75.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'age'. In Middle-earth, the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings took place late in the Third Age. The Fourth Age begins when Elrond leaves Middle-earth for Valinor soon after the War of the Ring.
If your looking for something online, I know none other than the LOTR online, however if you will accept a console game, "The Lord of the Rings - The third Age" is an excellent game, made by EA games.
There are various Lord of the Games. Many of them are on the computer but there are games that involve physical models. There is Lord of the Ring Strategy Battle Game (SBG) and War of the Ring (WOTR) both of these have extensive rulebooks and minitures which are sold through Games Workshop.
