After joining Ralph is a sort of 'half-cave' Jack excitedly proclaimed "What a place for a fort." He pointed out a trickle of fresh water running down the rock and suggested that a coconut shell could be placed there permanently filling with water. Jack also thought that the various boulders on the top of Castle Rock could be sent crashing down on to the causeway with the aid of a lever if an 'enemy' came.
