No Vocaloid is "real" in the physical sense. As characters, they are not any more real then Mickey Mouse or Hello Kitty. All the virtual concert performances we've seen so far are projections onto a screen/glass panel or inserted into live video feed via augmented reality. For AR, think something like the Nintendo 3DS's "3D" feature, only think at a bigger scale, as shown at the Dec 2011 Vocafarre where Gumi and Akikoloid-chan danced on stage and Lapis danced on a chair and sat on the shoulder of a guitarist while singing her demo songs.

If you are talking about the official original Vocaloids (No idea why they are called original), they are Miku, Len/Rin and Luka.
