No, that is just an urban legend. At one point in the Wizard of Oz movie -- right after they meet the Tin Man and they all set off together for Oz -- it looks like there's a dead person hanging from a noose in the background. But this is just an illusion. It's actually a large bird, one of several that were allowed to roam around the set, to make it seem more believable that the characters were really walking around outside. This is one of the many myths about the Oz film. There was no hanging on stage- on the film plane. There may have been some props that ( trees for example) in a distance looked like some Jury-Rigged Gallows. There was no execution by hanging in the film- which would have been taboo for anything kiddy oriented. Many people believe some character hung himself. No there was a staged hanging in the radio drama Candy Matson Yukon ( and a number, which was a telephone number) This involved a triple hanging of Bandits- on a hill, from a Western film being filmed in San Francisco. The mental image indelibly suggests the Biblical Calvary! This was a radio drama- not a movie- but the kiddy-sounding Candy Matson may have added to the confusion.
Nobody hung themself in this movie. A rumor was spread that there is footaage of a munchkin hanging himself in one scene, but it is obviously a crane lifting its head and spreading its wings. I don't know how anyone can misconstue this as someone hanging themself.
No, but it looks like one. It's in the scene where Dorothy, Scarecrow, and the Tin Man are standing on the road talking about what to do next (I think it was just after the Wicked Witch scene, with her on the roof). I do know that at the end of the scene they turn down the road and start singing "We're off to see the wizard". If you look at the horizon of the background while they're standing and talking you'll see a tiny shadow of a man (or woman?) lean a ladder against a tree, throw a rope, climb back down the ladder, disappear for a second, climb back up the ladder, put the noose around his neck, and dangle. Check it out!

This rumour has been floating around for a long time. What you are likely seeing is a stage hand in the background. There were NO suicides during the filming of the Wizard.
Well some people say there was but i watch this video where a munchkin said nothing happened and they would of stopped the tin man part when that happened so i say no.
No. That rumor has been proved false, as the image in the background was a large bird brought in to the set from the Los Angeles Zoo to give Oz a realistic feel.
