According to some hopeful rotten old fruit on Data Lounge, Gene Pitney was gay until he got married. I have no idea how they would know this. The only other thing I got from that website (other than the fact that they think everyone is gay and therefore their gaydar needs batteries) is that he supposedly had a relationship with a man called Major Bowes which doesn't add up as Pitney was born in 1940 and Bowes died in 1946 unless Bowes was a paedo. Pitney gives me gay vibes however I suspect he's just a 'gentle' man. Perhaps he was bi but we'll never know. I'm often suspicious of men in entertainment who don't have second wives. They're too good to be true. We all know how straight men are. So perhaps he was bi and decided to not go fishing for fruit because he had a wife and children and had no real desire to explore further.

Hopefully we can get a real answer from someone so I can have permission to play the tambourine while thinking about him, you know?
