No. It is based on the novel by Dan Millman. Socrates is based on Dan Millman's relationship with Adi Da Samraj, a spiritual teacher who resided in California in the 1970's when Dan was a devotee of Adi Da. Most of what Socrates says and also the manner in which he taught Dan, is very similar to Adi Da's method of teaching in those early years his of teaching. It is not just similar, it is where Dan gets all the wisdom in the book from. It is very unfortunate that he does not acknowledge this source of wisdom. If you go to www.adidam.org you will find out much more about this True Spiritual Teacher of the highest degree who is alive today offering a real transformative relationship to those that yearn for true heartbreaking freedom and happiness.
