No. Mark King joined up with Mike Lindup, Boon Gould and Phil Gould in 1979/80 to create Level 42. After Level 42 was formed Mark King worked on solo projects, the first being 'Influences' in 1984. He and Mike Lindup also released a single called 'Freedom' in 1982 under the band name 'Thunderthumbs and the Toetsenman' but at this time Level 42 already existed.
