Robert Palmer is buried in London, England. Although there was a Memorial Service for Robert Palmer in Lugano, Switzerland, he was interred in a private cemetery in London, England. This was done at the request of his family. Robert Palmer's parents, Anna and Leslie Palmer, his brother, Mark Palmer, and four of his children, James, Jane, Anna and Tony do reside in England, and did not want to have to travel to Lugano, Switzerland, to visit his gravesite. The location of the gravesite remains private. Only Robert Palmer's closest friends and family were invited to his funeral and know the location of his grave. The announcement that Robert Palmer was going to be buried at his home in Lugano, Switzerland was made by Robert Palmer's manager, Mick Carter. No family member authorized him to make that statement, he simply took it upon himself to do so. Carter was advised by a woman who was in no position of authority that this was going to be the case, and he therefore made the report. This was just one of a bizarre series of dubious reports made by Mick Carter regarding his client Robert Palmer.

Mary Ambrose complied with his order and returned to Lugano, Switzerland later that afternoon. Robert Palmer had earmarked his time in Paris to spend with his friend Jack Bruce as well as conduct publicity appearances for the recent release of Drive. In addition to that, Mary Ambrose only traveled with Robert Palmer in her capacity as his personal assistant. Robert Palmer did not require her services as such on September 25, 2003, ergo her return to Lugano, Switzerland. The original report that Mary Ambrose was in Paris, France, vacationing with Robert Palmer, was an error in reportage made by Mick Carter, Robert Palmer's manager.

According to Carter, he took Ambrose at her word, and announced Ambrose's name to the press. In addition to this, Carter announced Robert Palmer's divorce date from Susan Palmer as 1991. The correct divorce date was in 1999. He also quoted that Robert Palmer was in "Perfect Health" prior to his death. That was not correct. Robert Palmer was suffering from Hypertension and was being treated medically for that condition.
