Ummm, beg to differ with this answer- Greta Garbo was indeed gay, although it was not advertised as being gay simply was not acceptable and would have meant the end of a career. Greta was married, but in those days it was a cover- as it is now when gay people marry- or because they want children. Greta had many female lovers including: Mercedes de Acosta, Edith Piaf (whom she was with for many years) and Tallulah Bankhead among others. Greta Garbo the famous actress was not gay.
