I went to school with susan and I remember that she was murdered by one of her relatives (maybe a cousin?). She was a waitress and lived over Meeker's hardware. I remember that they recovered some evidence from the river next to the apartment. She was a great person and it was a shame that she died so young. I have often looked for information about her on the Internet, but I have never found anything.

Wow! Like you, I too had know Susan and every once in a blue moon would google her name to see if there was any info regarding her murder on the internet. This is the first time anything has ever come up.

I had dated Susan for a brief time just prior to her murder, and then moved to Southern California. One day shortly after I arrived I called Susan to say hello. Some older guy answered the phone. Weird. He was being evasive about where she was, but was very interested in who I was and where I was calling from.

I tell him I'm a friend who just moved to California. He asks me when did I move? I tell him like a week ago. He says "A week ago? So, where in CA are you?" I tell him San Diego. He then asks me "where exactly in San Diegoare you right now?" I was getting kind of scared because I knew something just wasn't right, and for some reason this guy wants to know exactly where I am right now. Her roommate at the time sold a little weed, so I figured the police had busted the roommate, and were answering the phone to try and bust her customers or something. The guy finally tells me he's detective so-and-so from the CT State Police. I tell him that I want to know what the hell is going on, so I'm going to the local police in San Diego and ask them to call him.

I do this.

The officer who I end up talking to calls this detective back in CT. He's on the phone with him. He's saying "ah hah . . . ok . . . yeah, ok . . . ah hah" while not taking his eyes off of me. I don't know what the hell the detective is telling him. He finally hangs up and says why don't I come back there and talk to him. He buzzes me through a door, and he and 2 other officers take me into an interrogation room and question me about my relationship with Susan, when I left CT, etc., etc., They soon realize that I'm not the guy they're interested in and tell me that my friend Susan had been murdered!! I couldn't believe it. It was just inconceivable to me. I was like 22 or so at the time and without a care in the world.

I ended up finding out from friends back east that her cousin had murdered her. I had met him once or twice at the bar Gilly's next door to where Susan lived. All I remember about him is that he was quite short. Apparently they had run into each other at the bar, gone back to her apartment, he tries putting the moves on her, she resists, and he strangles her with the cord of her blow dryer. He tosses the blow drier in the river outside her apartment. So sad. . .
