it's not historicaly accurate word for word but is similar to the true events, there was a british colonel who was a "bad guy" and there was a American colonel who was in militia and knew the terrain very well and did lots of damage to the brits

Not really. The last scene where Cornwallis surrenders and the French blockade the English from fleeing Yorktown is pretty accurate though.
