Why is Peggy Whitson in the Iowa hall of pride?
Peggy Annette Whitson is a native Iowan, a biochemistry
researcher, and a NASA astronaut. Among her many accomplishments
are two long-duration missions to the International Space Station,
one in 2002 with Expedition 5 and one in 2007 with Expedition 16,
which she commanded. She has also completed 5 extravehicular space
missions.
She is the recipient of numerous awards, including those for
scholarship, leadership, and performance.
