My theory is that Michiko gave birth to Hatchin in prison, but was taken away (because you can't keep babies in prison) and put in foster care. That would also explain how Michiko knew where to find Hatchin after she broke out of prison. Not to mention with Michiko's insane jealousy, I'd doubt she'd ever raise a kid that isn't hers.
