Col. Sherman T. Potter played by Harry Morgan
All the main cast members except for Larry Linville (Frank Burns) and Maclean Stevenson (Lt-Col Henry Blake) are still alive. We can now add, sadly, Harry Morgan to this list of greats from the MASH series. Interesting side note here, if you consider Trapper John, M.D. to be part of MASH (it was considered a spin off) then Pernell Roberts can be added to the list at least of actors playing MASH characters. The only reference to MASH ever in the series, besides the name, was the opening in which Trapper (Roberts) is having a dream and calling out "Hawkeye, Rader..." Other than the opening, Trapper had no other apparent connections although I always wanted to see a visit by someone from MASH on the series.
The first one in charge was Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Blake (played by Maclean Stevenson). He was replaced by Colonel Sherman T Potter, played by Harry Morgan.
Harry Morgan (Morgan for sure--Henry if not Harry).
Harry Morgan, Col. Potter of M*A*S*H fame, by all reports is still alive at age 94. To be any more certain, you would have to ask him. Harry Morgan originally performed with the name Henry Morgan, but changed his stage name early on to avoid confusion with another actor of the same name and general age.
