In the beginning he is good. But as he grows older he grows more arrogant because of his growing power and more frustrated because he feels he's not getting the credit he deserves. He walks the line between the light and dark side several times, especially at the end of Attack of the Clones and throughout all of Revenge of the Sith. In Attack of the Clones he slaughters an entire village of Sand-people because they kidnapped, tortured, and killed his mother. In Revenge of the Sith he kills Darth Tyranus even though he knows he shouldn't; he killed him because Palpatine told him to. He continually questions the Jedi Order which leads him to consult Palpatine who continues to lure him to the dark side. Then Palpatine reveals that he is the Dark Lord of the Sith and that if Anakin joins him they can discover how to keep people from dieing and this appeals to Anakin because he is in constant fear that Padme will die and he won't be able to do anything about it. Anakin then stops Mace Windu from killing Palpatine and helps Paltpatine kill Windu. Then Anakin moves past the fact that he just killed a Jedi Master and accepts his destiny as Darth Vader and becomes evil. The rest is history. So to answer your question he is both good and bad.

Adri998's point of view

George Lucas made the prequel to show that Anakin isn't the bad guy he's the victim. It is Paltaine or what my lil brother calls him "a big bully :)

and he is made to look like a pawn of Palpatine.
