Just saw him on TV singing his old hit at 71 years old.
He hardly opened his eyes. When he did, all you could see was a pale whitish opaque eyeball. Just like advanced cataracts. So for all intents and purposes we were all led to assume that he has cataracts - and most people who have this are very close to blind.
By the way, he sang beautifully.
