If you mean as in the "June Muriel Brown" who plays the character "Dot Cotton" on East Enders, then she is (at time of writing this - August 2012), very much alive, on a six month break from filming East Enders while she handles her autobiography and other matters.

I understand that she is due to return to filming around October.

At the grand age of eighty five she has recently done a documentary on BBC1 "Respecting your elders", covering issues surrounding the needs of older folks and issues around care-homes etc.

I don't know the lady personally but have a deep respect for her having been involved in a small charity in Leicestershire which June used to be a "famous friend" of. Wonderful natured lady who more than "does her bit" - almost always unsung.

So, I do not quite understand the original answer given - as at the risk of repeating myself, June Brown is very much in the land of the living.
