They find him when Melissa's ex boyfriend, Wren helps the girls and leads them to Ian's hideout along with Melissa. Ian is found shot in the head and next to him is a suicide note confessing to killing Alison
Yes.. well he died in season 1 episode 22 :) He fell from the top of a church trying to kill Spencer.
Yes Ian is dead. While Spencer was in the church trying to get away from his grasp the mysterious "A" came and saved her life. When "A" got Ian away from Spencer, Ian fell and was hung by the ropes that make the bell chime.
