Ok so in my honest opinion, although I have never worked with Marshall, nor have I ever met him, but yes.

You can't have such deep lyrics, write a song with so much meaning if you haven't gone through it yourself.

Song ex: Bonnie & Clide, Kim, I love you more, Crazy in Love, etc but ESPECIALLY Love the way you lie pt 1&2.

You can NOT describe an abusive relationship to the T like that without going through it. Of course, it seems Kim was abusive herself. Doesn't make one better than the other... although we don't know both sides of the story.
