Not even close. A list of the top ten blazers and shredders would not include his name.

I do not agree with the idiot that posted above.

Al Di Meola is possibly the fastest technical guitar player. He wouldn't ever compare himself to "blazers" and "shredders" anyway. Shredding has less to do with complex melodic structure. Al Di Meola and John Mclaughlin are some of the best musicians.
