To the information below me, It is incorrect. It is up to an individual wheather or not ghosts do or do not exist based on their beliefs, But for as far as abel frye being real or not, he is. I attend the highschool, Rogers highschool, where he had indeed hung himself. They made a movie of hangman curse, so their is more than just the book now and it was filmed at rogers. The story is dramaticly changed though for the thrill of the story, but abel frye was a real person.

i am curently reading this book and had the same question. yes the abel frye was a real ship, and yes the spiders really did kill every one on the ship. if anyone finds any more information about this id love to hear it.
