The studios on Abbey Road in London were originally known as the EMI Studios. Following the success of The Beatles album Abbey Road which was recorded at the EMI studios, the studios were renamed after the road and album.
Yes, it was, during the summer and early fall of 1969. Despite the Beatles' promise to producer George Martin to work together "like the old days", they were fragmented and squabbling, and were largely only in the same room when they had to be. Martin worked around this by having different Beatles in different studios at Abbey Road, recording at the same time, with him and Alan Parsons going back and forth.
A playback session where the band worked out the final running order of the album (John Lennon had earlier demanded that George Harrison write more songs, to be placed between Lennon's and Paul McCartney's songs so they "didn't have to touch each other"; Harrison declined the idea) was the last time they were together at Abbey Road.

The Beatles recorded the bulk of their work in EMI's Abbey Road Studios, in St. John's Wood, London. Most of their songs were recorded in Studio Two (home to 191 Beatles recordings), but they also used One (meant for symphony orchestras) and Three (meant for soloists or duets). The Beatles also used Trident and Olympic Studios, later in their career.Their BBC recordings were virtually all made at BBC's studios. One of their annual Christmas records was recorded at Dick James' small studio. The German versions of "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" were recorded in EMI's Paris studio, and the music to "The Inner Light" at EMI's studio in Mumbai (then called Bombay), India.

A modern commercial studio has many components. Some use tape for recording, some use computers. You could set up a home studio for a couple of hundred dollars, or spend millions recreating Abbey Road. You'll need a recording device and microphones to start.

They recorded at Abbey Road for most of their career, later they would use other studios to get access to 8 track recording systems - particularly Trident. However, these were occasional visits and most the recording continued at Abbey Road. They also commissioned a studio to be built in the basement of the Apple headquarters in 3 Savile Row, London. However, by the time it was completed, the band had broken up.
yes, and when they did they were considering a different recording studio, and this only happened because it was cheaper.
IT COST 20 dollars an hour and 50 dollars a song. Of course you get what you pay for, Abbey Road or Metalworks would cost much, much more.
Neither. They walked back and forth across the road directly in front of the studio (it was a T-intersection, with the studio at the very top, and them crossing at the intersection of the vertical line) until they were happy with the shot.
Abbey Road was the location of EMI's London headquarters, and also the company's recording studios. The studios themselves adopted the Abbey Road name, after the attention drawn to them by the recording artists who worked there. Most of the Beatles' records were made in Studio Two. In 1969, wanting to go out on a positive note, the Beatles persuaded producer George Martin and recording engineer Geoff Emerick to return to work with them at Abbey Road. Their last album, Get Back, recorded on location (and in the Apple basement), had fragmented the Beatles, and Martin and Emerick were tired of hearing undue personal criticism, and the band's own squabbles. Both agreed to return, if the Beatles promised to return to form. The Beatles first thought of calling their last work together Everest, after a brand of cigarettes; in the end they went with Abbey Road.
