For one the plot has to be way-out, not the run of the bank- bank robberies and gangsters. ll. It takes place nearly always at night, and frequently indoors, stalkers, suicide attempts, ( Slender Thread) and the like. Plots can really get sick such as the plight orf a woman assaulted ( Raped more likely but this was a taboo term) in an elevator in Lady In A Cage. Surprisingly starring top-flight actress Olivia De Haviland ( Not as some have inaccurately stated, Araminta De Haviland, no such actress). I am trying to solve one, title wise, about a woman menaced in her own home ( a suburban House, not an apartment, by a strange but seemingly cool type Man while her husband is out of town on business, and she tells the guy all his travel plans! strange response, she never thinks of calling the police- unless some sort of automatic silent alarm was in use- and kept from the viewers, she seemed to keep things going by keeping him talking. This strategem sometimes works, but not always- the Slender Thread- title referes to telephone line, is an arguable take-off on the Monroe tragedy but with a Brunette actress (Bancroft)
