In Shippuden episode 166, Hinata rushes to Naruto's aid when he has been absolutley owned by Pain. She doesn't just TRY to tell Naruto that she like's him...she succeeds! Naruto is immensely shocked by this, mostly because he's so clueless he hasn't realised it yet. Hinata that battles Pain, but inevitably loses (but c'mon, NOBODY can defeat Pain, not even Jiraiya!). Naruto, beliving she's dead, gets SO FLIPPIN' ANGRY and goes into Kyuubi six-tail mode. Hinata survives, but apparently, due to Kyuubi mode, Naruto cannot remember her confession. :-(
