The Ring and The Grudge are two completely different series of movies, that were written and directed by different people. None of the characters from The Grudgeappear in The Ring, and vice versa. Nothing that happens in The Ring has anything to do with The Grudge, and vice versa.
Sadako/Samara (the evil girl) certainly holds a grudge against the world, and especially her adoptive parents, though.
