He is obviously one of the oldest in whatever school he went to, as he is head of the choir. However, all of the boys are too young to go to high school. This leaves us with the assumption that he was the oldest in a middle school- making him around 12 or 13.

Simon's age is never stated. The range of ages of the boys stretches from the youngest littluns, aged around 6 up to the oldest bigguns, such as Ralph who is turned 12. Simon is mentioned as being in the grey area between littluns and bigguns, although he is treated as a biggun. So, his age might perhaps have been somewhere between 8 and 10?

Other than being told that Ralph was twelve and a few months old, and that he was the oldest boy, the ages of the rest of the boys are never detailed. The youngest boys are known as littluns and to quote from the book... "The undoubted littluns, those aged about six..."
