Ralph thinks Simon is batty. In reality, Simon is not batty, he just thinks much more about certain things that ordinary boys simply do not think about. e.g The Beast being inside us. This does not make him batty. Simon also has a tendancy to faint, which make the boys think her is 'sick'.
