Well due to Piggy's exhaustion caused by his weight, and the fellow boys testosterone overflowing their bodies. It was only inevitable that Piggy was overpowered and gang raped by the other boys on the island. Thus, resulting in Piggy going insane, or checking out mentally for the rest of the story.
