"Halfway House" by Hugh Bolton Jones, an important American artist, is a 24" x 48" print. This print is frequently listed for sale on eBay, priced at $20 to $200. Many people find it difficult to tell prints from originals, but the easiest way is to touch the surface. You can feel the raised texture of oil paint. Prints are flat. Also, 19th century oil paintings were nailed to a wooden stretcher, and they were painted on canvas. (You can safely remove any paper backing without harming the value of the print.) Halfway House prints can also be identified by a late 20th century brass plate on a commercial quality frame showing the title of the painting.
