The cost of a First Class US postage stamp in 1984 was 20 cents. It was raised from 18 cents in March of 1981. It stayed at that price until February 1985.
First of all, the price of the movie ticket is predetermined by the theater chain, so it varies wherever you go. But according to NATO(The National Association of Theatre Owners) the average price for a movie ticket in 2009 was $7.50 and in 2008 it was $7.18. Here in Sarasota, Florida if I go to the most popular movie theatre a ticket is $8.50, if you're a student its $7.50, senior citizens and military the price is $6.50, and if have a coupon you can get a ticket for $6.50. So basically, it varies everywhere you go, just depending on how well the theatre is doing financially and how much it costs them to entertain the moviegoers that attend their business.
It costs $11 for an adult, $8 for a child or senior for a typical movie. 3D movies cost $13 for adults, $10 for young adults and $10 for child and seniors. An opera ticket will cost $20 and special ballets will cost $11 for adults, $8 for children and seniors.
Depends on the movie star: Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, Jim Carrey: $25,000,000 (25 Million per film) Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet: $20,000,000 (20 Million per film)

There are plans for both movie theatre complex groups to open hundreds of 20-movie theatre and 30-movie theatre complexes under all of its chains from each one everywhere in the United States. It is definitely going to happen in 2015 and 2016, according to some of the staff from AMC and Regal Entertainment Group.
