In a sense, they have no value. Whoever receives an Oscar must sign a legal contract stating that the Oscar must be offered back to the Academy for one cent prior to selling or giving the Oscar to anyone else. It was discovered at the last award cermony that the contract was not valid for minors. A revised contract was made and signed by a guardian which states that the winner must sign the traditional contract upon turning 18 or return the Oscar. Because the original contract is not valid for minors, two former winners may be able to sell their Oscars if they choose to do so, as they were not of legal age when the signed the traditional contract.
