2,223
2,223 passengers were carried on the titanic on her first and last ever Voyage. which was lots more than it was designed to carry
There are various figures quoted for the number of people on board the Titanic at the time of its sinking. Some sources quote 2223 people while others cite 2228. This is due to discrepancies, errors, and omissions in the original passenger lists.

The official number varies according to the source. One provides the following:

Category Number aboard Number of survivors Percentage survived Number lost Percentage lost First class 329 199 60.5 % 130 39.5 % Second class 285 119 41.8 % 166 58.2% Third class 710 174 24.5 % 536 75.5 % Crew 899 214 23.8 % 685 76.2 % Total 2,223706 31.8 % 1,517 68.2 %

The RMS Titanic, sank on her maiden voyage on April 14, 1912. The ship had a maximum capacity of 3,547 people (2,223 were on board the night of the sinking), and for her time was the premier and most elegant ship that had been built to date.

She was four days into her maiden voyage when she struck an iceberg. The iceberg clipped the hull and though she had a top-of-the-line extensive series of water tight compartments, the lower area of the ship amassed too much water for the great ocean liner to handle and eventually Titanic gave as the rear tilted into the water. Once the ship had sank a certain amount down, the front outweighed the rest and eventually the ship snapped in half. The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people. There were survivors, but the capacity for the life boats was a far smaller number than the amount of people who were aboard. It is recorded as one of the worst human tragedies to date.

In total there were 2,223 people aboard

899 crew members

1324 passengers

Other answer= Out of a total of 2,223 people on board, 1,517 were lost and 706 survived.

  • To be more specific 2227 actually were on board and 705 people died, just to make sure

about 2.200 people on board the titanic.

I think roughly there were 2,200 souls on board.

Only 700 were saved , the other 1500 perished

There were 1,316 passsengers on board: 325 in first-class, 285 in second, and 706 in third-class. At the time of the sinking, the Ship's crew consisted of 885 men and women divided between three departments: Deck Department, 66; Engine Department, 325; Victualling (Passenger Care) Department, 494. Not included in this list are the eight members of the Ship's band who were technically from another company and traveled under second-class tickets.

Titanic sailed with 2,208 people onboard. 1,496 were lost and 712 were saved.

2,208 passengers and crew were sailing Titanic.

2227 people were on board on the Titanic.

2,207 people were on the titanic when it sank, but the ship was not all the way full; her full capacity was 3,547 people including the crew.

2,224 people

2,223

2,223 passengers left for the voyage across the Atlantic.

706, possibly 705, escaped on life-rafts.

1,528 died in the sinking ship due to the inadequacy of life-rafts on the Titanic.

approximately 2500
how many people were aboard the titanic
Estimate may vary. The vessel carried in all 2,358 persons. The total survivors are officially declared at New York to be 868, so that it would appear that the number who have perished reaches the awful figure of 1,490.
There is not an exact answer, but sources claim there was about 2,500 people on board.

by my calculations I think that about 1112 people died, while I'm sure that 702 people lived and that surely includes some of the crew. If I'm wrong than I'm sorry.

1503 died and 706 lived.

Over 2,000. Not even 1,000 survived, and those who did were mostly rich people, because they had most money.
no one is exactly sure since the passenger lists were lost with the ship but our best guess is 2,200 sadly of which only 705 survived
2,208 people had boarded Titanic when she left Ireland. This included 1,317 passengers and 891 members of the crew.
When Titanic set to sea, there were 2,208 people on board.

712 of them lived and 1,496 died.
