There are not reliable statistics available because of the various reporting methods, the number of agencies involved at state and/or federal level and so forth Minors who are unaccounted for are grouped into many categories such as , endangered missing, endangered runaways, family abductions, lost, missing or injured children, non family abduction, stranger abduction, etc. Needless to say the statistics for missing children are very troubling and very inaccurate both on the plus and minus side.
