four. Gary rossington is the only one who still performs with the band, but to my knowledge ed king, artimus pyle, and bob burns are still alive. However they are not associated with the band today. there are other living people who performed with lynyrd skynyrd at some point, but of the members who contributed to their five studio albums only four survive today
he did "record" a black betty version, as did many other artists. it's on the album "Privat 2" http://daz.com/releases/Lynyrd%20Skynyrd/privat%202.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Betty *************EDIT: The original Skynyrd, with Ronnie Van Zant as the main vocalist, never recorded Black Betty. It is possible they covered the song, as it was popular back then, but it was not released on any of their albums. Somebody listed Black Betty as being done by Skynyrd on Limewire, but this version was not them. As for the Tribute Band (or, Current Lynyrd Skynyrd), I don't know, but there is no album entitled "Private 2", so the guy that typed what's up there was wrong. As well, Skynyrd is not a "He", it was a band (Ronnie Van Zant on vocals, Allen Collins, Gary Rossingon, Steve Gaines/Ed King on guitar, Leon Wilkeson on bass, and Artimus Pyle/Bob Burns on drums). ************** IMPROVEMENT: The song that's on Limewire and claims to be Lynyrd Skynyrd is a group called Ram Jet that recorded the song in 1977 and released as the first trach on their album "Ram Jet". NOT LYNYRD SKYNYRD
I've read on a few different wikipedia-like pages that besides brothers Donnie of .38 Special and Johnny who took over as Skynyrd frontman in 1987 that Ronnie also had 3 sisters. I've never seen their names written anywhere officially, but the statement about his also having 3 sisters is on a few different links about Ronnie.
i think it was 14
Lil Wayne has had two number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100s list, as well as many hits on other lists. He achieved six number one singles on the Billboard's Mainstream R&B Hip-Hop.
On October 20th, 1977 an airplane carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd crashed, killing the popular band and injuring many others. It was a terribly sad day for rock-and-roll.
The Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash was a very sad event in history. The crash happened a little over 35 years ago, with many different articles noting the passing of time.

most of the members of lynard skynard died years ago in a plane crash......in other words!! there will never be a new album cuz they are freakin dead. This is not really true, Lynyrd Skynyrd (spelled LYNYRD SKYNYRD) reformed around 1990 with Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother Johnny fronting the band. They released their first new album called Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991 followed by The Last Rebel then Twenty, Edge of Forever, and Vicious Cycle. Finally their newest album God and Guns was released in 2009. I will however admit that there have been many line up changes due to deaths of original members and of course members leaving for other reasons, but I can assure you The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band is alive and still going strong and with God and Guns they have reasserted themselves as Gods of Southern Rock!

The lyrics to the song "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd can be found on many sites such as Metro Lyrics or Lyrics Freak. There was some controversy surrounding "Sweet Home Alabama" as portions of the lyrics allude to issues dealing with racism and scandals.
The song is referring to Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer and songwriter of Lynyrd Skynyrd (famous for the song "Free Bird", among many others) and the members of his band and crew that were killed when their plane crashed in Mississippi in 1977. Since their deaths, "Free Bird" has become a tribute to them.
