"Southern Man" from the 1970 album "After the Gold Rush" It's important to note that there was no problem between Neil Young and the band, in fact, they were just "taking a jab" at him...it was all tongue in cheek. Read up on how Sweet Home Alabama was written by the guys. It led most non-southerners to believe that's where the band was from....but nay nay, they were from my hometown of Jacksonville Fl. They wrote it after doing several trips to Alabama to record and simply loved the state, as most do, if you ever visited. Great song that for some reason, always reminds me of Florida lol....go figure. Neil's Harvest record of 1972 has a song called "Alabama" a response to " Sweet home Alabama" ? before it was released. Maybe.
