The answer is Titles: 1,711,668 (Year Range: 1888 - 2016)

A possibly better estimate:

If you check IMDB that is actually the number of listed titles (which includes TV).

A better estimate would be to determine the average number of movies made each year in the world then multiply that number by a set number of years. After doing some research you'll find that there some years there are 1000 movies other years there are 2000.

Lets assume 2000 for an over-estimate. Next we have to calculate how many years have elapsed which is simply taking the current year and subtracting 1888.

2012 - 1888 = 124

Now we multiply the number of years by the average number of movies produced in a single year.

124 x 2000 = 248,000

Since this is an over-estimate we can say that there are less than 248,000 movies currently made in the world.

Since this calculation was estimated in 2012, you can add around 124 movies for each year since 2012.
