I was born at the Manhattan General Hospital in 1936. I believe it was located at 23rd St. and 2nd Avenue. I'm not sure how long it's been gone. I too was born there, in 1945, and my father was born there in 1916. It became part of Beth Israel - another Wikipedia item says that was in 1964. It is now a condo or coop. Beth Israel sold it to developers in the 1980s or 1990s. My birth certificate, and my father's identify it as Manhattan Hospital, rather than Manhattan General.
