How is Katniss Everdeen brave?

In the first book or in Catching Fire? In The Hunger Games, her little sister, Prim, is drawn from the reaping, and so she took her place.


In Catching Fire, there's a change in the games. It's the 75th Hunger Games, and each quarter, they pull out a drawing, of what will make The Hunger Games worse this year. For instance, when Haymitch was in one of the "Quarter Quarrels" (atleast I think they're called that. Something like that) they used twice as many tributes. So 2 boys and 2 girls from each district. This year.....President Snow pulls out the most horrifying thing ever, The Tributes that will be pulled out....will all be Victors from the past games. And there is only one girl who has won for District 12. And that just so happens to be Katniss.

Because with all the cameras around she knew she had to be brave (or at least act like it) for her sister and mother. Also because she knew it would be the only way to beat the others and get out alive.

The most important thing that made Katniss win the hunger games was because of her sister. She had promised to come back home and see her sister again. Also when her father had died her mother cut out on the world and if her other did something like that again while she was at the hunger games she couldn't leaver her sister at a position like that. She wasn't necessarily brave but she was clever and she would do anything to make sure that she got back home.
