I think it still works because technically a bent aerofoil wing is still an aerofoil wing, but it would work going in a different direction or work in a different way. I think this because is a human with a broken leg not a human anymore? No, but people with broken leg(s) can still move and do other things in a different way.

What makes a boomerang fly?

A) the shape ; it's an airfoil in cross section and a bent wing in top view. B) when you throw it it MUST spin.

WHAT describes the structure of an airplane wing?

It is aerofoil that describes the structure (shape) of the aeroplane wing

How does aerofoil cause the plane to lift?

Aerofoils are able to lift the plane by wind speed, and wind direction. Aerofoils can also lift the plane up by its shape when bent downward of an aeronautical wing shape. - Aerospace engineering

What is the ratio of the wingspan to the chord?

the ratio of wing span to the chord of the aerofoil is ASPECT RATIO

What is a device such as a wing which assists the lift of the plane due to air which passes over or under it?

aerofoil

Why do boomerangs fly?

When thrown the top wing of the spin moves in the same direction ,while the wing on the bottom of the spin moves in the opposite direction of the throw. The wing on top is spinning at the same speed as the bottom wing. More air passes under the top wing which lifts the boomerang. The boomerang travels in a circle returning back to the thrower.

What is the common term for an object shaped like an airplane wing's designed to direct the flow of air over its surface?

aerofoil

What causes awing to lift?

The aerofoil shape of a wing is designed so that the speed of air flowing above the wing is faster than that below. This creates an upward force, called lift.

What is the difference between a helicopter creating lift and anairplane creating lift?

the difference between an helicopter creating lift and an airplane creating lift is simple. an airplane creates lift by moving forward and its wing that has an aerofoil shaped will create lift. this gives the lift for the airplane and to fly. for helicopters, instead of the aerofoil is fix like an airplane, the aerofoil wing is rotating and create lift. that is why the helicopter does not need to move forward to gain momentum to create lift. by rotating the aerofoil (the blade) the helicopter can creates enough lift to lift up the helicopter.and that's how it fly..

Why do wings keep a plane in the air?

As the plane flies through the air, the upper surface of the wing, or aerofoil, is so curved that it creates higher air speed and lower pressure. In other words this lower pressure gives an upwars"lift" to the aerofoil, wheras the air rushing under the aerofoil creates higher air pressure giving an upward "push" to the aerofoil. So both surfaces create upward forces.

The main shape of an airplane?

what do you mean? but I'll give info anyways.. I'll talk about the wing if you're asking about the shape that makes it fly, the aircraft wing has an "aerofoil shape" the shape is made to have high pressure on the bottom part and low pressure on the top part, thus making it float on air.. more info?
