How do you outline a paper on classic music?

It depends on what exactly you're writing about. Easiest is chronological.

Start at the beginning and work your way through. The out line below would be for a piece of music

Intro (ie for a piece of music-title, who wrote it, when it was written, where if interesting, why is it important.)

1st movement or period

important or interesting points

2nd movement

important or interesting points (may be more than three)

etc.
