If you've lost your voice gargle salt mixed with water every couple hours. Or, research says to turn up the hot water and inhale and exhale through the steam, such using a vaporizer when your sick. This has happened to me before. Also, you should drink plenty of fluids and soup. You can also sip honey tea.(This is the most preferred tea by doctors.) And, resting your voice might help you get it back, too. You can also try mixing hot water with honey and lemon juice, that helped me. Try resting your voice for a day and drink warm or hot water. Try not to strain your voice.

I don't know if the first answer is true or not but here's what I did. I drank Swiss miss hot cocoa mix because its sugar free and I had my voice back in no time
If you decide to change your vocal characteristics -- especially the "strength" and quality of your voice -- you should do that under the direction of a trained vocal coach (or speech pathologist). The vocal cords are sensitive to "vocal abuse," physical damage from the vigorous, strained, and prolonged use of voice. Perhaps you have experienced that kind of vocal strain in people who have shouted for prolonged periods of time at sporting events and who have found that the strain left them with a hoarse voice. The cords can recover from most physical damage that results from abuse, but if the abuse persists, the remedies range from inconvenient to unpleasant. From that viewpoint, it is best not to practice vocal exercises unless you are monitored and supervised by an expert. It is possible, however, to give the impressionof a stronger voice without actually changing your voice at all. The trick is to shorten vowels and to articulate consonants precisely. Between vowels and consonants, the vowels have by far the greater power; but in English, the consonants carry the meaning. Therefore, if you say the consonants more clearly and with greater precision, your speech will be heard and understood more easily, and you will give the impression that you have "strengthened" your voice. That trick is not a substitute for improving your voice, but it will help, especially while you arrange for professional vocal training.
when your sick its a good thing not too talk unless u really need 2 cause it hurts and strains your vocal cords, its also a good thing to drink lemon tea with honey.. i tryed to gargle salt water but i dont know if it will help all i know is that it burns real badly, and theres this stuff that my mom uses to not get sick its called cold f-x its to help you get better when u are sick and the help u not get sick, try using a pen and paper to talk instead of using Ur actual voice.. i hope this will help you.. im going to go take my own advice know, byebye
Okay well if you are talking about maybe having swollen glands (as i did) Or sore throat then then BEST! thing to use is salty water. I know it does not taste that good but don't put it on your tongue if you find it that bad. You must gargle the water to get the most of it, I gargled it for about half a minute a little less and I sing alot so the fact that i lost my voice was very bad, I gargled it for as long as whatever feels best and sang and it worked! My voice is completely back! If you lose your voice again just use salt! Until you are no longer sick. Other then that you may be a little hoarse but just to be safe i would check with the docter :)

My voice is also gone... -__- And It can take a few days or even a couple of weeks! I really want it back now! But you just have to wait. It doesn't usually come back in a day or anything unfortunately. =/
Yes it will. Try to force your voice to much. Like any surgery it will take time to heal. If you have further questions it's best to discuss them with your doctor.
To get gravel out of your voice, try staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoiding irritants like smoke or excessive shouting, and resting your voice to allow it time to heal. You can also try steam inhalation or warm tea with honey to soothe your vocal cords. If the gravelly voice persists, it's best to consult a doctor or a speech therapist for further advice.
