In America at least, you need to have a Nielsen box which records what shows you watch. The average person's viewing habits really have no effect on the ratings on TV shows.
I have read that somehow ratings are tallied from DVR playbacks but I haven't the foggiest how that happens as I don't own a DVR.

Low ratings.
Redwall - TV series - ended on 2003-12-31.
Mad tv got canceled because the ratings of the show went down, which caused the show to lose funding along with their viewers. The show statistically was less popular than a similar show, Saturday Night Live.
It is still shown on CTV and ABC. Check your local listings.
You can find television show ratings on the website IMDB. This website will give reviews and rankings for almost every television show that is on the air, or has aired in the past.
The show that had the highest ratings in 1992-1993 with 20,388,900 viewers was 60 Minutes.
I am not sure if you are asking about TV show ratings, or the ratings of different televisions. There are many websites that will provide you with ratings. One website that I like is www.zap2it.com.
