This is very difficult, as everyone is calmed by different things. Find something that can relax you and help you focus. Perhaps you like music, so listen to an iPod or play your instrument quietly to yourself. If you enjoy friends, call them up, or even better, if they are there with you, speak with them in person. Familiar faces can usually help a terrifying task seem a little easier. If you are worried that you won't do well, just clear your mind, and stride onto the stage. Don't think about what you might do wrong, think of what you are doing right. As long as you can find out what suits you best to calm yourself, you'll do just fine. Also, a few deep breaths right before never hurt anyone.
