Apart from various craft making and group activities relating to generating food, clothing and shelter, strict religious beliefs often limited what certain colonials were allowed to do by their particular community. "Play parties" were a musical answer to the problem, in which participants sang songs by trading lyrics, which were invented on the spot. "Skip to My Lou" is an example:

Skip, skip, skip to my Lou,
Skip, skip, skip to my Lou,
Skip to my Lou, my darlin'.

People who lived in colonial times rarely had spare time. When they did however, there were several ways to keep entertained. They spent time playing Board Games, sports, playing cards, singing songs and attending the theater.
They played around everywhere.
Just so you know, I did not write that, I am just adding onto that! Ha ha. That's funny but obnoxious! Anyways, people woudl go to plays that were around everyday, (anyone could do this, poor or rich, man or women) and go to museums, and also there were many musicians on the streets. Women knitted for fun, and children would play with animals. Men would come home from work and socialize with the family or other people their class. Hope that helped! - Caitlin Smith

There were no European settlers in Australia in the 1770s. The people in Australia were the Australian Aborigines. In the past, Aborigines wore very little or nothing at all, even in cold regions such as Tasmania. In colder areas, they might wear kangaroo or possum skins, but mostly they covered themselves with ochre and animal fat. The Aborigines did wear various kinds of personal ornaments such as arm and head bands, necklaces, and bracelets. These were usually made from shells, bones, animal teeth and claws, or bits of feather and fur.
