Natalie Wood who portrayed Alva died at the end from pneumonia. Remember, she was so ashamed of what she had done while living with Robert Redford in the film and went running out into the rain and thus, pneumonia. Here is another tid bit most people don't know about this film. Most of know that Natalie Wood was terrified of water and during the filming of This Property Is Condemned she was so scared of performing a skinny-dipping scene that co-star Robert Redford held her feet underwater to help steady her while shooting it. If you are a Natalie Wood fan please see: Splendor In The Grass (one of my favorites) with Warren Beatty and Rebel Without a Cause with James Dean.
